Palo Alto High School (Paly) Choice Programs | Elementary Application Process (except Young Fives)

Admission to an Elementary Choice Program is granted through a kindergarten lottery held in the spring prior to the new school year.

The lottery for the 2021-2022 school year was done on February 25, 2021; review the statistics for the 2021-22 lottery in the Presentation: Elementary Choice Program Lottery given at the that lottery meeting. Contact the main office of the school at which the Choice Program is located to ask about an application for inclusion on the 21-22 waitlist.

Applications for the 2021-2022 school year kindergarten lottery: Application forms are given only to parents who attend a program’s Information Night. Parents may attend any or all Information Nights for all programs, but only ONE of the four Choice Programs may be applied to. Families interested in applying for the 2021-2022 school year must do the following:

  • Complete a PAUSD registration for the 21-22 school year by the Round 1 Registration deadline of 4:00 p.m. February 12, 2021. This ensures your child’s registration is complete prior to the Choice Program application deadline.
  • To receive an application to a Choice Program lottery, parent/guardian must first attend one Parent Information meeting, after which an application will be provided. (Dates for Information Night Events and Tours) Note: Incoming students who will have a sibling in the same program during the same school year of attendance - also known as concurrent siblings - will be granted priority placement, but an application for the incoming sibling MUST be submitted by the below deadline.
  • After attending the Information Night, parents submit an application for ONE Choice Program to the Choice School’s main office by 12:00 p.m. on February 17, 2021. This deadline will be strictly enforced.
