The following are typical courses, by grade, for students who enter BLA in grade 7.

(Students who enter in grade 9 start with Latin I and consequently have slightly different schedules.)

7th Grade:

  • English 7
  • Humanities 7
  • Pre-Algebra
  • Unified Science 7
  • Middle School Latin
  • Physical Education
  • Arts: Band, Orchestra, Theater, or Visual Arts

8th Grade:

  • English 8

  • Middle School Civics

  • Algebra I

  • Unified Science 8

  • Latin I or Latin I-Advanced

  • A Modern Foreign Language: Arabic I, Chinese I, French I, Japanese I, or Spanish I

  • Physical Education

  • Arts Electives: Band (Prerequisite Applies) or Orchestra (Prerequisite Applies)

9th Grade:

  • English 9
  • United States History I
  • Geometry
  • Biology or Biology Honors (Pre-AP)
  • Latin II or Latin II-Advanced (BZies take Latin I)
  • A Modern Foreign Language: Arabic II, Chinese II, French II, Japanese II, Japanese II-Advanced, Spanish II, or Spanish II-Advanced (BZies take Level I MFL)
  • Physical Education
  • Arts Electives: Band (Prerequisite Applies) or Orchestra (Prerequisite Applies)

10th Grade:

  • English 10

  • World History or AP World History

  • Algebra 2 or Algebra 2-Advanced

  • Physics or Physics Honors (Pre-AP)

  • Latin III or Latin III Honors (Pre-AP) (BZies take Latin II or Latin II-Advanced)

  • A Modern Foreign Language: Arabic III, Chinese III, French III, Japanese III, Japanese III Honors (Pre-AP), Spanish III, or Spanish III Honors (Pre-AP) (BZies take Level II MFL)

  • Arts Electives: Band (Prerequisite Applies) or Orchestra (Prerequisite Applies)

  • Other Electives: AP Biology (must defer history) or AP Computer Science Principles (must defer history)

11th Grade:

  • English 11 or AP Language and Composition
  • One History Course
  • Pre-Calculus or Pre-Calculus Honors (Pre-AP)
  • Chemistry or Chemistry Honors (Pre-AP)
  • A Modern Foreign Language: Arabic IV, Chinese IV, French IV, Japanese IV, AP Japanese, Spanish IV, or AP Spanish Language (BZies take Level III MFL)
  • An Elective (BZies take Latin III or Latin III Honors (Pre-AP))
